The state of Texas has been awarded $45.2 million from HUD (The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) to assist long-term recovery efforts after the severe spring flooding. More than 75% of the state’s residents live in the affected counties, many of whom were not able to rebuild after the 2015 floods before 2016 rain began.

The Community Development Revitalization program will be responsible for administering Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery. The grants can be used for housing redevelopment, business assistance, and infrastructure repair. HUD will publish criteria for the use of the funds.Texas General Land Office and TexasRebuilds.org
