HCAD
The Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) is responsible for appraising taxable property for Harris County, the cities, school districts and more than 300 special districts within Harris County. Harris County Appraisal District appraises more than 1.7 million properties annually.
THE HARRIS COUNTY APPRAISAL REVIEW BOARD
The Harris County appraisal review board (ARB) is appointed by the local administrative district judge for Harris County. The ARB is comprised of an independent group of citizens. They are responsible for hearing and resolving property tax protests from property owners. When there is a dispute between the appraisal district and the property owner, the ARB provides an independent, impartial review and decision of the case.If you think the appraised value of your property is incorrect, the Harris County Appraisal Review Board is who receives your property value protest.
